World Book Day fun

Pupils at our school celebrated World Book Day a little later than many when they arrived in costume on Friday.
A pre-arranged parents evening event, along with school PE, meant Thursday wasn’t possible, so we all dressed in style on Friday.
As well as dressing as their favourite character, children were also asked to take their favourite book into school to share with their friends.
“It was great - all of the children and staff dressed up with a wide range of costumes from books like Billionaire Boy, 101 Dalmatians, Captain Underpants and Room on the Broom to name just a few,” said Assistant Headteacher Billy Overton.
"In our English lessons, children got to be creative by describing their own brilliant villainous characters, reflecting on what they like to read and the youngest children made bookmarks and word pointers to help them develop their reading skills.”
But World Book Day lunch was enjoyed on Thursday with other schools in the trust when the menu included Ratburger and Gangsta Granny Salad - followed by Charlie and the Chocolate Factory ice cream.
